Each banana was unique in width and ripeness. We assigned numbers to each of them so that we could identify them later on when we checked their fates.

1) A quick-ripening, a small banana that got freezer burn after about 4 days.

2) A slightly larger banana that lasted 6 days before turning brown.

3) A medium-sized, soft yellow banana that turned brown less than a day after we put it in the freezer.

4) A large, hard greenish-yellow banana that is still completely frozen as of now.

5) A large, brown, ripe banana that spoiled after about 3 days.

We expect the experiment to continue for at least a month as some of the bananas are still as hard as rocks.

We will start by wrapping the tip with plastic wrap around the area of the bunch where the bananas are attached. We must give it 5 or 6 laps to ensure that they are well-protected.
Afterward, we keep the bananas in the fridge until we are going to need them. We must always make sure that the temperature is not too low (between 0-5 ºc), as they could deteriorate. It is best to keep them in the refrigerator, inside the specific drawer for this type of food.
It is very important not to separate the bananas until the moment we are going to eat them. If, at that time, we do not consume them all immediately, we repeat the operation and rewrap the bananas in the same way.

Can frozen bananas make you sick?

Many scientists believe bananas can make you sick if they haven’t been kept cold enough. The organism that causes the illness, known as the Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, usually lives on everyone’s skin but it can also live in places such as nasal passages, open wounds and even pimples. It generally doesn’t cause any problems but it can cause some serious infections if it gets into the body.

It’s likely that your banana didn’t make you sick. The most likely reason why your banana spoiled is that it wasn’t stored in the freezer long enough and the bacteria inside the fruit grew too much, causing it to rot.
