Heading out into the countryside is one of the best ways to get our minds and bodies feeling good at any time of the year. In the winter, you will see the beautiful frosty ground, spiders’ webs tinged with dew and the maybe even some snowfall to silence the land.
Gloucestershire has some beautiful places to enjoy a country walk – keep warm and snug in aran sweaters from shamrockgift.com and head out to the countryside. Here are a couple of gorgeous Gloucestershire places to enjoy a walk…
May Hill – This is one of the most recognisable landmarks in Gloucestershire and standing at 275 metres in height, it is easy to see why! A bracing walk on May Hill will blow the cobwebs away, and as you climb towards the summit, which is crowned with Corsican pine trees, some of which were planted to celebrate the jubilee of Queen Victoria, you will be rewarded with some outstanding views – over the river Severn, the Wye Valley and into the Welsh Black Mountains on a clear day.
Soudley Ponds – This is a beautiful place to walk, set right in the heart of the Forest of Dean, it is perfect at any time of the year. The autumn moths are particularly stunning as the trees light up in all their autumnal splendour, and as the low autumn sun shines on the ponds it can feel as though you are in a fairy-tale woodland! Head up to the viewpoint too, to see views over the River Severn as it meanders through the Forest and down towards the Severn Estuary.
