Start with the engine cold. Remove the cap from the reservoir and wipe the dipstick with a clean cloth. If the fluid is dark, smells of burned oil or has a milky appearance then it must be replaced, not just topped up.
Topping Up and Flushing
As with any top up, use a clean funnel and only add in small amounts at a time until the level reaches the maximum mark, ideally the minimum mark.
