Strictly Come Dancing has become an incredibly popular television show that takes a prime time slot on Saturday night television. It is based on the principles of ballroom dancing and Latin dance competitions. The show has been so popular that many people have started to sign up for Salsa Classes London way like those from rvdance.co.uk/dance-classes-london/salsa-classes-london/ in a bid to learn some of the impressive dances that are shown on our screens.

The show first aired in 2004 with Tess Daly and Bruce Forsyth presenting the show. The judging panel was made up of elites in the dance world, including, Len Goodman, Arlene Phillips, Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli. As well as having these impressive individuals on the judging panel, the show also had some of the best ballroom and latin dancers in the world taking part.

The show’s premise is very simple, although the routines are not. Celebrities are paired up with professional dancers and over a number of weeks, they will be expected to learn a specific ballroom or latin dance and then perform this live on a Saturday night to a viewing audience. Their dance is scored by the judges and then the viewers can vote for their favourites.
Each week a couple is voted off until you are left with three dancers in the final show. The format has remained pretty much the same since 2004, with the presenters and judging panel changing slightly.
