Korfball is a mixed-gender sport that dates back to the early 1900s. It’s played with a ball and a basket on a basketball court, and it’s similar to dodgeball. Korfball is popular in Europe, Asia and South America, but it has yet to catch on in North America or Australia. However, when we think about how many countries play korfball (and how many don’t) it becomes clear why this sport isn’t as well-known outside of Europe: only about half of those countries are playing korfball! So what exactly does that mean? And what else do we know about this unique game?

How many countries play korfball?

There are more than 40 countries that play korfball. In addition to the Netherlands, which was its birthplace, korfball is played in countries all over Europe, Asia and North America. The International Korfball Federation has members from 46 of the world’s 195 independent nations (as of 2019).

In Europe alone there are 15 member nations: Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, England & Wales (UK), France & Navarre (France), Germany & Bavaria (Germany), Hungary Lithuania Latvia Luxembourg Malta Montenegro Poland Portugal Romania Serbia Slovakia Slovenia Sweden

About half of the countries that play korfball are in Europe

As you can see from the map above, there are many countries that play korfball.

The Netherlands is the most popular country for the sport. As a result, the majority of international competitions take place in this country. The Netherlands has also hosted many tournaments and events including the World Games and European championship games.

Other countries that are well-known for their love of korfball include Belgium, Germany and France. You will find that these three countries tend to dominate when it comes to winning medals at major tournaments or events like World Cups or European championships.

The International Korfball Federation was founded in 1933. It is based in The Netherlands and has 52 member countries. It is responsible for the development, promotion and organization of korfball at an international level.

Korfball is played throughout Asia

Korfball is played in many different countries. In Europe, korfball is most popular in Belgium, France and the Netherlands. These three countries are members of the International Korfball Federation (IKF), which was founded in 1933 and governs international competition.
