Carrickmacross Kavanagh Trail – This walk takes you in the famous footsteps of the poet Patrick Kavanagh. See St Joseph’s Church with its stunningly beautiful stained glass windows, the Shambles which is still a working butchers and the Convent of St Louis. If you enjoy poetry and the countryside this is the ideal walking trail for you.

Sliabh Beagh – In the north of Monaghan you will find this beautiful area of countryside with plenty of walking routes to enjoy. With so much ground to cover you will have the opportunity to wander through country meadows which in the summer light up with the colour of the wildflowers, and up steep mountains which give you fantastic views from the top.

Ballybay Wetlands Centre – If you want to see some of the birds that call Ireland home, then head to Ballybay wetlands centre. As well as spotting some of the birds here such as the Siberian Widgeon, there is a lovely woodland walk through oak trees that you will certainly enjoy.
